   WHO AM I

I am a missionary in Belgium with a big heart for sports and God. I love working in Belgium but also can't wait to start my new adventure in South Africa. I look forward to seeing how God will use me in this amazing path He has set out for me!

I grew up in a small town called Hamme. Growing up I didn't really know God. Both of my parents are non-believers, and the same goes for all of my friends. God was definitely not something I was thinking of. At the age of 12 I found out about SportQuest, a basketball camp where all of my friends were going. I decided to also go and immediately loved it; the positive atmosphere, the Americans, and lots of basketball was perfect. They always talked about God, but I never listened when it came to that subject. Until I was 15, my heart felt like it needed to listen what these people were saying about God, His love, and His grace. That week my heart changed, and by the last day of camp I decided to give my life to Jesus.

I was blessed to meet Kurt Maeyens in Hamme. He was the church leader of Hamme those days and also the SportQuest Belgium director. He asked me the year after if I wanted to join SportQuest as an athlete and do mission trips in Belgium. I happily said yes, and Kurt also began to teach me all the basics from the Bible.

My years as a SportQuest athlete was amazing, and I loved it a lot. During the summer of 2013 I became more involved with SportQuest. Ever since I graduated college, I felt God calling me to be even more involved with SportQuest. I joined the SportQuest staff that summer and decided to combine it with a teaching job. After one year, I was asked to take over the role of General Coordinator and lead the team here in Belgium. In september 2015, I began this role in addition to my full-time teaching job. I felt that the Lord was putting full-time missions on my heart, and that He wanted me to stop teaching. In February after much prayer, I informed my school that I wouldn’t be coming back the next school year. Since the summer of 2016, I can happily say that I am a fulltime missionary. This changes my life a bit, since SportQuest doesn't pay me, I have to raise my own financial support to do what I do.

I can also very happily say that I have felt God leading me to South Africa. SportQuest asked me to start SportQuest South Africa together with a colleague of mine. I have been in prayer about timing. The plan is that in September 2017 I will be leaving Belgium for South Africa and starting this new adventure.

There is a lot more to say. If you want to hear more, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
