Its been a bit over a month since my last blogpost but a lot has happened in SportQuest Belgium. We started with our Gent camp reunions. So we come together with the youth from the camp twice a month. Once is just to hang out and play basketball and another time the kids interested come to our house and join us for YouthAlpha. This is an amazing tool to use to share faith with young people in a very easy way. You watch a video and during the video you get questions you discuss like if you have 24h to live, what would you do? These video's are an amazing tool to get conversations going and to really look together at some life questions. I'm excited to see the Reunions in Gent grow and to be a part in the walks of some of these amazing young people.
Next to Reunions happening for our young people from camp in all of the churches, not just in Gent, we have something called Alumni reunions that we started. Here we come together with the Belgian Athletes from this summer where we hang out and play games. We do also some worship and prayer and just try to encourage them as much as we can. Being a Christian in Belgium isn't always easy but these young people are on fire for the Lord and we really try to encourage them and speak a bit into their life about leadership and discipleship. I'm so exited for these reunions and talking with these amazing young people. This group of people really makes me smile and encourages me for the future of Belgium. They all have an amazing future in front of them and together with them Belgium will go into a new season of revival.

I personally have also been helping with a new initiative called Streetbuddy's. Someone from my church saw at first hand how Streetbuddy's can really change the atmosphere of a neighborhood and eventually a city. He went to Austria and helped there with the local Streetbuddy's and felt that this would work amazingly in Gent. So when he came back he started the process of starting it in our own city. The idea behind Streetbuddy's is that we need to just love people and help them. It's not about sharing faith but about loving others like Jesus did. So we go out in group of 4 from midnight to 4am in the city's party street for students. And try to help the drunk students, with giving them water and tissues when they throw up, see if we can help them call a friend. In the few weeks we have been doing this, we have got so many good responses also from the police itself. We even got invited by the police chef of Gent to come and talk about Streetbuddy's which was just an amazing opportunity. I'm really excited to be part of this initiative and to see the city of Gent change.
Besides all these initiatives and events we have been working hard with SportQuest to change and prepare ourselves to be ready for this upcoming year. Really believe this is gonna be an amazing season for SportQuest Belgium and the country of Belgium. So please keep Belgium in your prayers!
It's a rather short update on all that is happening, but just wanted to let you see a glimpse of what is happening. At the moment I'm in the states doing some fundraising and taking the opportunity to talk to youth groups and churches. And after a week here my time has been blessed already. Ill write an update on my US trip when im back in Belgium november 15. Thank you all for reading my blog and for all of your prayers
Please pray for Streetbuddy's that it can be a real light in the city of Gent.
Pray for the young Christians for protection and boldness to share their faith in their own community. They are really helping Belgium turn the corner into a new season.
And pray for a safe trip here in the United States for me and that it can be a real blessing.
